Article I

Name

Section 1, The name of this organization shall be the "College Republican Club of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth"

Article II

Purpose

Section 1, To make known and promote the principles of the Republican Party among college students at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and the surrounding community.

Section 2, To aid in the election of Republican candidates at all levels of government.

Section 3, To develop political skills and leadership abilities among club members as preparation for the future service by them to the party and the community.

Article III

Membership

Section 1, Members may include undergraduate or graduate students who are full or part-time as well as faculty, staff and members of the greater Dartmouth Community

Section 2, Only those who display behavior disrupting the business of the club either in a meeting or event will be asked not to participate

Section 3, Definition of Disruptive, A: to break apart, rupture B: to throw into disorder

Article IV

Officers

Section 1, The officers of the College Republican Club shall be a Chairman, Co-chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Event Coordinator, and Head of Fundraising

Section 2, All officers shall be elected at the last meeting of each year. All elections must be included in the official notice of the club meeting prior to the election

Section 3, The deciding vote for a tie election shall be decided upon by the presiding faculty member.

Section 4, A faculty representative shall provide guidance and act as an ambassador to the faculty.

Article V

Duties of Officers

Section 1, The Chairman shall preside over all the meetings of the College Republican Club. He or she will coordinate all activities between the College Republican Club and Elected Officials, Campaign Officials, the Media, and members of the community at-large.

Section 2, The Co-Chairman shall assume the duties of the Chairman in his or her absence. The Co-Chairman shall be responsible for recruitment of new members and shall be the representation for the College Republican Club to the Student Senate, and to other on campus clubs, boards, and activities.

Section 3, The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all meetings. The Secretary shall send notices of all meetings to al members.

Section 4, The Treasurer shall serve as chief financial officer of the College Republican Club. The Treasurer shall maintain all financial records and shall keep and record all contributions, transactions, receipts, and expenditures. The Treasurer shall ensure compliance with all State and Federal campaign finance laws. The Treasurer shall sign all purchase orders and have the power to disburse the funds of the College Republican Club after approval is given by the Chairman and complies with all rules and regulations of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Student Senate. The fiscal year shall end on May 1 of each calendar year. At the May meeting the Treasurer shall present a year-end report in writing.

Article VI

Impeachment

Section 1, Any officer who, during his or her term in office, has demonstrated negligence or incompetence in the performance of their prescribe constitutional duties or acted in a manner deemed inappropriate by another officer that officer may be impeached or removed from his or her office

Section 2, A Candidate for impeachment must be notified at least 48 hours before the club takes any action.

Section 3, A 2/3 vote of the College Republican Club is needed for removal. A candidate for impeachment shall be given the opportunity to address the College Republican Club

Article VII

Meetings

Section 1, A quorum shall consist of 50% of membership plus 1

Section 2, Meetings shall be conducted in accordance with Roberts Rules of Order.

Article VIII

Amendments

Section 1, All proposed amendments must be submitted, in writing, to the Secretary during an official meeting. The proposed amendment will go up for vote at the next official meeting.

Section 2, Amendments shall be approved to this Constitution by a 2/3 vote of members present.

Section 3, All Amendments to this Constitution must be approved by the Student Senate.
